Feb. 2: Mankato Public Safety Responds to Library Incident

No danger to public during the incident.

Mankato, Minn. -- Mankato Department of Public Safety responded to the call of a possible suicidal male received at 3:52 p.m. today on the Minnesota State University, Mankato campus. Police officers set up a perimeter, searched for the individual and discovered him in Memorial Library at 4:30 p.m. At that point, the individual, a 27-year-old Minnesota State Mankato student, turned the weapon on himself and died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

There was no danger to the public during the incident. The Memorial Library is back open on a limited basis with the lower level, first and third floors being accessible.
