April 18: Chicana-Latina Mother & Daughter Conference

Conference will encourage bonding and communication between mothers and their daughters (ages 10-18).

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato will host the Life-Work Planning Center’s Chicana-Latina Mother and Daughter Conference, titled “Your Generation and Mine” “Tu Generación y la Mía,” on Saturday, April 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The conference, to be held in Minnesota State Mankato’s Centennial Student Union (rooms 201, 204, 245, 253-4-5), is for Chicana-Latina mothers and their daughters ages 10-18. Its focus will be to encourage bonding and effective communication between mothers and daughters by providing resources and information through workshops, panel discussions, a keynote speaker and information booths.

Information will be provided on women’s health, education, immigration services, parenting, cultural identity and more.

The Life-Work Planning Center, located in Mankato, is collaborating on this event with the Minnesota State Mankato Institutional Diversity’s office of Latino Affairs and Oasis, the University of Minnesota Extension Regional Office in Mankato and the Latin American-Multi-Ethnic Association for Networking & Opportunities (LA-MANO).
