Cyrenthia Jordan Named Director of Equal Opportunity & Title IX

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato President Richard Davenport announced today that Cyrenthia D. Jordan has been named the University’s director of equal opportunity & Title IX (formerly known as the director of affirmative action). She will begin her duties on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Jordan is currently the senior equity & diversity associate for Minneapolis Public Schools, a position in which she has served since February 2013. She has also worked in private sector attorney positions and in her own practice, Jordan Law, PLC. Jordan has also worked as a special assistant public defender in the Hennepin County Public Defender Office and served for more than two years as associate to the director/equal opportunity consultant in the Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Office at the University of Minnesota.

“I’m pleased to announce Cyrenthia Jordan as the newest member of Minnesota State Mankato’s administrative team,” said Davenport. “During her 13 years of professional experience, she has had the opportunity to work with a broad range of equal opportunity and employment law cases, and we look forward to welcoming her to campus.”

Jordan’s experience includes providing legal guidance and counsel to managers and leaders of both private and public organizations; managing receipt of complaints; conducting investigations in high conflict and complex matters related to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and Title IX complaints; conducting training for management, employees and students; representing organizations through litigation and other related employment law situations.

Jordan received a juris doctor degree from the Hamline University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in legal administration from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. She maintains her bar admissions with the U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota.

Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 15,376 students, is part of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system, which comprises 31 state institutions.
