Nov. 9: University Percussion Ensembles Concert

Performance will be at Halling Recital Hall.

Mankato, Minn. – The University Percussion Ensemble will present their fall semester concert on Monday, Nov. 9, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. The concert takes place in the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Ave.

Mr. Michael Thursby, Director of Athletic Bands, leads the ensembles.

The 15-member University Percussion Ensemble performs with an extensive array of instruments, from traditional drums, xylophones, marimbas and cymbals to just about anything that can be struck or shaken. The concert features an eclectic mix of musical styles including traditional classical works, contemporary pieces and Afro-Cuban world music.

Concert highlights include a bucket drumming performance piece and a medley of songs by the band Muse arranged by the percussion students and performed on percussion instruments and various electronic media.

Concert admission is $9 for community members and $7 for K-12 students and Minnesota State Mankato students with a valid MavCARD. Discount tickets are available online for University students.
