Nov. 18: Food for Folks Charity Concert

Minnesota State Mankato’s concert production team will perform a benefit concert for the ECHO Food Shelf.

Mankato, Minn. - The Minnesota State University, Mankato Concert Production Team will present Dick Kimmel, Andrea Lyn, Erin Kaylor, and Sydney Frank in concert for the benefit of ECHO Food Shelf on Wednesday, Nov. 18. The show starts at 7:45 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. at Pub 500, located at 500 South Front Street, Mankato, MN.

Dick Kimmel generally performs as a vocalist playing guitar, mandolin, and claw hammer banjo. He was inducted into America's Traditional Country and Bluegrass Hall of Fame in 2008, the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame in 2010, and the Mid-America Music Hall of Fame in 2012. In 2014, he was nominated as Bluegrass Entertainer of the Year by SPBGMA (the Society for the Preservation of the Bluegrass Music of America). Dick has played on more than two dozen recordings, many containing songs he has copyrighted.

Andrea Lyn is a singer/songwriter from Minneapolis. She has shared the stage with The Marshall Tucker Band, Gene Watson, Ronnie Dunn, and GB Leighton. In 2014 Lyn was a featured artist on the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand. More information can be found on her Facebook page at

Erin Kaylor is a country artist from Indianapolis. Kaylor, a self-taught musician, began performing in churches and talent shows before branching into her solo career. She is currently working on her debut album and in addition to regional touring.

Sydney Frank, also from Indianapolis, is an indie-folk artist working on her first release. She is set to release her single “Count Me In” in collaboration with local Indiana artist Jacob Cupps. Frank is building on her success in the local 2014 band slams as recipient of the Most Outstanding Artist award. Sydney Frank’s prior releases can be found on Soundcloud.

As part of National Hunger Awareness week November 14 – 22, the Concert Production Team will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items. All donors will receive one raffle ticket for each food item and be eligible to win drawings for gift cards, gift certificates, and other merchandise generously provided by local sponsors. The grand prize drawing will occur at 10 p.m.

“We’re excited to have both local and regional artists supporting us and to have the generous sponsorship of many local businesses. We hope to make a significant contribution to the ECHO food shelf in support of National Hunger Awareness week,” says Concert Production team member Joey Chismar-Atkinson.
