April 22: University Concert Bands to Perform

Event to take place at historic Kato Ballroom.

MANKATO, Minn. – The University Concert Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will perform with special guests on Friday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Historic Kato Ballroom, 200 Chestnut Street, Mankato. The bands are under the direction of Amy Roisum Foley and Justin Tollefson.

This concert promises to be a unique performance.

The Franklin Elementary Band, under the direction of Amy Olson, will open the concert.

University Professor of Voice Stephanie Thorpe will lend her considerable vocal skills to a performance of Aspen Jubilee for Concert Band and Soprano Soloist by Ron Nelson.

All three bands will perform three tunes at the end of the concert: Country Gardens, Irish Tune, and Shepherd’s Hey. The percussion and sit-down instruments will remain in the band seating area and the rest of the players will surround the audience.

Concert admission is $9 and $7 for students with a valid MavCard. Discount tickets are available online for University students. Those who wish to purchase tickets online should go to
