Child Actors Needed for 'Seussical'

Auditions will be held May 15.

Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Theatre and Dance News Release, 4-21-2016

Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Department of Theatre and Dance is looking for children to play various roles in Highland Summer Theatre’s upcoming production of “Seussical.”

Auditions, which will include singing and dancing, will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, May 15, in the Ted Paul Theatre, Performing Arts Center, Minnesota State Mankato. Four to six children will be cast.

The department is seeking children shorter than 5 feet. The leading boy character, JoJo, is about 10 years old.

About the musical: Now one of the most performed shows in America, “Seussical” is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie, and a little boy with a big imagination—Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.

“Seussical” performs 7:30 p.m. June 8-11 in the Ted Paul Theatre.
