Aug. 15: Annual President's Convocation
President's address to faculty and staff will take place at 9 a.m. in Centennial Student Union Ballroom.

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato President Richard Davenport will welcome faculty back to campus and discuss his vision for the 2016-2017 academic year during the annual president’s convocation address to faculty and staff from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15 in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom. A reception in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom lobby will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Monday.
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Marilyn Wells will deliver the provost’s convocation address from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the CSU Ballroom.

Fall “move-in day” for students at each of Minnesota State Mankato’s residence communities is Thursday, Aug. 18, when more than 3,000 students will begin moving into on-campus housing at 9 a.m. A new student/family barbecue will be held in Myers Field House from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18. A complete schedule of 2016 student “Welcome Week” activities is available online. The first day of fall classes is Monday, Aug. 22.
More than 4,000 vehicles are expected on campus Aug. 18-19, as students, parents and friends move student belongings into four campus residence hall communities. The university will again provide faculty-staff volunteers to assist with logistics, as well as traffic-control officers to direct the flow of cars.
Drivers to campus are asked to temporarily avoid main access streets such as Stadium Road and Val Imm Drive, and core-campus streets, and to park in remote lots on Thursday, Aug. 18.
There’s no scheduled move-in day for thousands of additional returning students who live in private, off-campus apartments. Many will return to Mankato on the weekend (Aug. 19-21) prior to the start of classes.
Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 15,193 students, is part of the Minnesota State system, which comprises 31 state institutions.
