Sept. 20: Jack Klatt and His Band

Concert is in Halling Recital Hall.

Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Music News Release, 9-5-2016

MANKATO, Minn. – Jack Klatt and His Band will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 in the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Ave.

From the moment Klatt (pictured) first stepped on stage, he was hooked and there was no going back. Klatt sold everything he had and promptly dropped out of college in the year 2006, spending the next six years more or less on the road with nothing to his name but a backpack and a Martin guitar. He hitchhiked all across the north and southwest and entertained the life of an ex-patriot while spending a year in Spain and Italy, slept under the stars on blue beaches, traded songs for dollar bills, loitered on countless street corners from San Francisco to New York, and mostly did a whole lot of walking. Today he has settled down in Minneapolis with a great band backing him up.

Critics say Klatt may be living in the wrong century. His sophomore album, "Mississippi Roll," resonates with glorious blues, rags, jazz and hokum from bygone times. Klatt not only brings them back to life, but he makes at least some sense of the modern world by gazing through this age-old vision.

Minnesota Public Radio says: "Jack Klatt's new album Mississippi Roll is easily
gonna be one of the best local albums of the year..."

Chris Riemenschneider, Minneapolis Star Tribune writes: “Jack Klatt isn’t just influenced by some of the greats of Minneapolis' West Bank music scene, he’s actually playing with some of them."

Concert admission is $12 for community members, $11 for Minnesota State Mankato students with a valid MavCARD. Discount tickets are available online for University students. Those who wish to purchase tickets online should go to
