Oct. 3: 'Steering Clear of Cyber Security Risks'

Presentation by faculty member Chris Veltsos kicks off National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

Minnesota State University, Mankato IT Solutions Announcement, 9-29-2017

Dear students, faculty and staff:

I want to invite you and everyone in our University community to take part in an important national event, National Cyber Security Awareness Month. Your cyber safety is important, and we are using October to grow our understanding of protecting our identities and information.

IT Solutions has scheduled several presentations featuring cyber security experts to highlight these goals. The first will be at noon on Monday, Oct. 3, in Ostrander Auditorium by our own Dr. InfoSec, aka Dr. Chris Veltsos, a faculty member in the Computer Information Science department.

This kickoff event will be followed by presentations in Ostrander on the last three Wednesdays, Oct. 12, 19 and 26, also at noon. In addition, IT Solutions and ITS Information Security will be promoting cyber security throughout the month with flyers, posters, and blogs. The theme for this year is Living in an online world: Everyday Security.

In our ever-connected world, our actions have the potential to affect everyone around us. I look forward to seeing you at these events to strengthen our community.
