Nov. 7: Event Featuring Creators of Young Adult Novel "Original Fake"

Mankato, Minn. – The creators of the young adult novel, “Original Fake,” author Kirstin Cronn-Mills and E. Eero Johnson, an illustrator, graphic designer and comic book artist, will read from their book and give a presentation on creating the graphic panels for the story in a free public event on Monday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Blue Earth County Library’s auditorium.

Cronn-Mills will read an excerpt from the book, while Johnson will give a presentation on creating the book’s graphic panels. An interview with the creators and a book drawing will follow the reading and presentation.

Hosts for the event are Minnesota State Mankato’s Library Services, Department of English and IT Solutions—Media Productions, in partnership with the Blue Earth County Library.

“Original Fake” is a novel about a teenage boy who pursues his artistic dreams and embarks on an art adventure of a lifetime. It is a story about feeling invisible while living among a family of performers.

Cronn-Mills, a 2010 finalist for the Minnesota Book Award for Young People’s Literature, received the American Library Association’s Stonewall Book Award in 2014 as well as an Independent Publisher Book Award (“IPPY”) silver medal for Gay/Lesbian/Bi/Trans Fiction.

Johnson’s illustrations have appeared in GQ, The New Yorker, Newsweek, Wired, and The New York Times. His comic book projects include “The Outliers” and “Kozmo-Knot.”
