MANKATO – You’re probably wondering it already: Will there be pig’s blood? Why, yes. Yes, there will be, although we’ve opted for a generic red concoction in which no pigs were harmed.

Minnesota State University, Mankato Theatre and Dance will present “Carrie the Musical,” the next spooky installment of our 2016-17 season. Based on the novel by Stephen King, the musical follows misfit Carrie White. At school, she’s an outcast who’s bullied by the popular crowd, and virtually invisible to everyone else. At home, she’s at the mercy of her cruelly over-protective mother. But Carrie’s just discovered she’s got a special power, and if pushed too far, she’s not afraid to use it in this musical adaptation of the hit movie.

Directed by Erin Horst, “Carrie the Musical” will run 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16-19 in the Andreas Theatre, Earley Center for Performing Arts, Minnesota State Mankato. There also will be two special midnight matinees the nights of Friday, Nov. 18, and Saturday, Nov. 19.

Tickets are $13 regular; $12 for seniors ages 65 and older, children under 16 and groups of 15 or more; and $11 for Minnesota State Mankato students.
