MANKATO, Minn. – The Scottie Miller Band (pictured) returns to perform at Minnesota State University, Mankato on Thursday, Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Ave.

Scottie Miller is an American pianist and singer-songwriter from Minneapolis. His musical style is a combination of blues, soul, funk and jazz. Miller is recognized for his high-energy performances, creative song writing, dramatic lyrics and extraordinary piano playing. In 2008, Miller was inducted into the Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame for his contributions to blues music and blues heritage. Since 2008, he has also been the touring keyboardist for three-time Grammy nominated singer Ruthie Foster. He is featured on her Blues Music Award winning CD/DVD ‘Live at Antones.’

The Scottie Miller Band is currently touring to promote its latest CD, “Stay Above Water.” Recorded in Minneapolis in early 2017, the newest album is an ultimate sonic statement about quality and what making music in its entirety should be all about for any artist. The collective's new record incorporates a kaleidoscope of sounds that travel through time and space across the history of American music, with its leading conductor Miller taking the listeners in a breathtaking journey into Americana, blues, R&B, funk, rock, roots, boogie, soul and Latin jazz.

Miller says, “My songs are inspired by life and everything that life throws at you. I write about relationships, peace, war, love, loss, addiction, heroism, family values and the mystery of dreams.”
