April 28: 'Maverick Day of Service'
Community engagement office sponsoring volunteer activities ranging from campus and community clean up to landscaping.

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Office of Community Engagement is holding a “Maverick Day of Service” Saturday, April 28, with approximately 70 volunteers signed up to help with projects on and off the University campus from about 10 a.m. to noon.
Individuals and groups will be performing service activities that include campus clean up, landscaping, park clean up and more. Members of the University’s Environmental Committee will be planting a bee-friendly garden in a prairie lot on campus that is southwest of pay lot 4. Another group will work at the Campus Kitchen garden, located at Crossroads Campus Ministry (331 Dillon Avenue).
The volunteers will begin checking in at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday, with a large group announcement at approximately 9:15 a.m. on the University mall between Armstrong Hall, the Wigley Administration Building and Memorial Library. The volunteers will then begin their projects by about 10 a.m.
After completing the community service at noon, the volunteers will promptly return to campus for free lunch and live music by Irie Minds. There will also be a blood drive from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the flexible programming space on the lower level of Centennial Student Union.
