Oct. 23: OK Factor to Perform
Concert is in Halling Recital Hall.
Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Music News Release, 10-4-2018
MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota State University, Mankato Performance Series presents the OK Factor in concert Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Ave. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
Playful and unexpected, The OK Factor writes and performs folk-inspired music influenced by Americana and Irish fiddle styles, with an artistry that reveals their classical training. Cellist Olivia Diercks and violinist Karla Colahan find great joy in defying expectations and delivering an experience outside of what audiences anticipate from a cello and violin combo. Their passion for performing has continued to bring them success in communities across the Midwest, inviting audiences to explore music and cultivate a curiosity about its role in their lives.
Claire Philpott of Classical MPR writes, “They clearly have influences in Americana and Irish/Gaelic fiddle styles, but with the virtuosity of classical performers...They are great advocates for the potential of folk-inspired music.”
Concert admission is $12 for general admission and $11 for students with a valid MavCard. Discount tickets are available online for University students. Advance purchase is strongly encouraged. Those who wish to purchase tickets online should go to www.mnsu.edu/music.
