April 30: Storytellers Series Features Singer-Songwriter Dave Simonett

MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato's College of Arts and Humanities welcomes Americana folk singer-songwriter Dave Simonett (pictured) to the Minnesota Storyteller artist-in-residence and performance series at Minnesota State Mankato.

The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 in the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Ave.

Simonett, lead guitarist and lead vocalist for Minnesota string band, Trampled by Turtles, will appear in a unique concert format. In addition to performing his original music, Simonett will tell stories about his motivation to become an artist, his creative development and the inspiration to write music.

The Minnesota Storyteller series was launched in Spring 2019 by the College of Arts & Humanities and is supported by the Nadine B. Andreas Endowment fund. The series features Minnesota artists who are invited to campus for a three-day residency which includes time in our various college classrooms for lectures, panels and intimate clinics. Students get the opportunity to hear the artist’s stories and experiences and are able to ask questions and get feedback on various projects on which they are working.
