Grading Methods

Each course that you enroll in at MSU, Mankato has one or more grading methods assigned to it.

Grading methods indicate what type of grades are possible for students to earn at the end of the course.

Approved Grading Methods

Letter/Normal - This will result in a letter grade A - F

Pass/No Credit - The only grades possible are P and NC.

Audit - The grade assigned is an AU.  Courses graded AU are charged the same amount of tuition and fees as other classes and do not meet graduation requirements.

When registering for a class, the default grading method will apply unless you change it.  Grading method changes may only happen within the first 10 days of the semester for full term courses (short courses have a shorter timeframe) and after the 10 days have passed, no further changes to grading method are allowed.  This deadline is strictly enforced.

If you have questions about your grading method, please consult your academic advisor.
