The halls will close for Thanksgiving Break at 7 p.m., Wednesday, November 22, 2017 and will reopen at Noon, Sunday, November 26, 2017. Food service ends on November 22 at 6 p.m. and begins again at 4 p.m. on November 26 for the evening meal.
Thanksgiving Break Housing
Sign up at the Front Desk of your residence community (or the Stadium Heights Office) between Monday, November 6 and Friday, November 17 to stay in your room over Thanksgiving Break. There is no charge to stay on campus during Thanksgiving Break.
If You Need to Stay for Thanksgiving Break
Students may stay in their own rooms during the time the residence communities are closed. For security reasons, students who want to stay on campus beyond 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 22 must register at their Residence Community Front Desk/Stadium Heights Office by Friday, November 17. Anyone in the residence communities over break who did not register will be charged an administrative fee of $50 and may be subject to disciplinary proceedings. During the break period all residence community and University policies remain in effect.
Leaving Your Car On Campus Over Thanksgiving Break
Only residents who are registered to stay in the residence communities over Thanksgiving Break may keep their cars in on-campus parking lots. If you are going home over break, you must take your car with you or find other parking arrangements. Unregistered cars may be subject to towing.
Stadium Heights students who are staying for the break period may park in front of their buildings. Stadium Heights students who are leaving for the break but not taking their cars, should move them to the parking lot in front of Building 751.
If you plan to have a vehicle on campus AND you are planning to stay on campus during Thanksgiving Break, regular parking rules will be enforced through Wednesday, November 22. Thursday and Friday will be treated as Saturday parking.
Mail and Desk Service

The Front Desks will be open on Wednesday, November 22 from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., closed on Thanksgiving, and open on Friday and Saturday from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. The Front Desk will reopen on Sunday, November 27 from Noon - 3 a.m. You may check out equipment, etc. while the desk is open. Mail will be delivered on Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving. Mail is not delivered on Thanksgiving or the subsequent days of Thanksgiving Break. Mail service resumes on Monday, November 27.
The Stadium Heights Property Owner's Office will be open on Wednesday, November 22 and Friday, November 24 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Residential Life office hours at Stadium Heights are from 7-10 p.m. on Friday, November 24, Saturday, November 25, and Sunday, November 26. Mail delivery will follow the U.S. Postal Service schedule.
Before You Leave for Thanksgiving Break
- CLOSE and LOCK your windows.
- Remove all trash from your room.
- Return all To-Go Meal containers to the University Dining Center.
- Turn off the alarm on your clock.
- Close your blinds if you live on the first floor.
- Turn off and un-plug your computer and electronics.
- Turn off the lights.
- CLOSE your door and make sure the lock on the door is SECURE.
Residential Life Staff Members will be checking your room/apartment on Wednesday evening to help secure the building. If policy violations are observed while staff are securing the building, they will document the violation and follow-up will take place when the student returns to campus.
