When referring to Room Changes, please note that there are two different types of processes we use depending on the time of year we are in.
Requesting a Room Change Before the Fall Semester Begins
These types of room changes occur over the summer months before fall classes begin. Sometimes after students receive their fall room or roommate assignment they will elect to see if there are other room options available for them. Between June 20 and August 10, 2017 we will accept Room Change Request Forms from incoming students with a fall housing assignment.
While we cannot guarantee that we will be able to honor your requests, we will do our best! The Room Change Request Form should be submitted to us as soon as possible by fax, mail, email, or can be dropped off in our office if you are on campus for orientation. We will consider these requests in the order that they are received until August 10.
If your room assignment or roommate changes, we will notify you by email. You may also check your room assignment online at any time to see if there is a change.
It is important to note that once we have changed your assignment, your former room will become immediately available to other students and you will not have the option to change back to your former assignment.
Should we not be able to honor your request by August 10, you will an opportunity to change rooms during Room Change Days during the Fall Semester (September 5-6, 2017).
Requesting a Room Change After Classes Have Started
Once students have arrived to campus and we're settled in (after the first two weeks of class have passed), we allow any student to change rooms.
We offer Room Change Days during the third week of the Fall Semester and Spring Semester. This is the first opportunity that students have to change rooms each semester. During Room Change Days, any student with a housing assignment can stop by the Residential Life Office to see what spaces are available and they can request a room change on the spot. During this time, the student is provided with room change approval paperwork that allows them to start moving as soon as that day!
After Room Change Days is over, students can still change rooms by making an appointment with their Student Services Coordinator at their respective Front Desk (or Stadium Heights Office if the student lives in an apartment). Our Student Services Coordinators work individually with each student who wants to make a room change to find them a space that meets their needs and preferences. We generally allow room changes to take place up until the last three week of classes, at which time we cease room changes.
While there is no cost to do a room change, should a student move to a more/less expensive room type, we will prorate the difference on their room charges for the remainder of the semester.
