Julia Sears Remembered With Rebellion Day
The residents in Julia Sears Residence Community came together September 9 to celebrate the 140th Anniversary of the Sears Rebellion. The Sears Rebellion originally took place in 1873 when Julia A. Sears, the first woman to head an institution of higher learning in the United States, was relieved of her position because she was a woman. At that time 41 of the 93 students walked out of classes.
As a remembrance, more than 220 Julia Sears residents celebrated Monday with floor competition events, music on the south lawn and cake.

Understanding Copyright Infringement
The law requires all residents respect the rights of copyright holders in regard to copyrighted materials available online. Internet user agreements between Minnesota State Mankato, residents, and the residence community Internet provider, Charter Communications, are included in this law.
When downloading a copyrighted item (including music, videos, movies, books, art work, etc.) it is the responsibility of the downloader to make sure that they are legally downloaded, frequently requiring a fee.
Upon notification of a copyright infringement, Charter Communications will notify the Department of Residential Life who will then notify the resident. If the resident does not respond with the action necessary to resolve the infringement, further access to the residence community Internet will be denied. These requirements may include paying for the copyright, removing the item from the computer, and/or reading about the copyright.
You may request a room change through the front desk of your community. Contact the the Student Services Coordinator in Crawford, McElroy, Preska, and Julia Sears, or the Apartment Community Director in Stadium Heights for more information about your options. The residence communities are full and options are limited.
