Dakota VanLinden is currently working on two master’s degrees; an MFA in Creative Non-Fiction Writing and an MS in Anthropology. She most often works within the MLA citation style; however, she is currently learning APA and has many great resources for other styles. When she isn’t on campus for classes she can be found at the radio station interviewing authors for the Weekly Reader podcast/radio show or biking around Mankato.

Brent and Anthony~ Public Speaking

Hi! We're Brent and Anthony, Graduate Assistants in the Communcation Studies Department. We assist with any kind of public speaking assignment for any course at MSU.  We also teach classes in public speaking and give classroom presentations on any aspect of speech preparation and delivery to instructors who request this service from the CAS.

We're available for scheduled appointments in the CAS and also hold a drop-in speech lab once a week.  We love helping people prepare for their speeches!

Curtis ~ Writing

I’m Curtis (or Curt), and was born and raised in California. I have a B.A. in Philosophy from UC Berkeley and am pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing here at MSU. Two years ago, I taught English in Bundang, Korea, and last year (at MSU) I taught English 101. My specialties include humanities-based writing (philosophy, sociology, psychology, critical thinking/logic, English, etc.) and creative writing (fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction), and I am most familiar with APA writing style. I am a newly obsessed convert to Pokemon Go, so you might see me wandering campus or downtown with my eyes glued to my phone. Or, if I don’t see you there, I’ll probably see you at the Otto Rec Center.

Padam ~ Writing/ESL

Hi! I am Padam Chauhan. I have been working as a Graduate Assistant for Center for Academic Success (CAS), Minnesota State University, Mankato, for 2 years. In December 2018, I graduated with an MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Currently, I am pursuing a degree as Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership. My current research interests include L2 academic writing, genre-based instruction, L2 assessment, literacy development, bi/multi-lingual education, policy level issues in higher education, faculty development/learning, ethical decision making, equal access to education, and challenges and opportunities of executive leadership in higher education. In my leisure, I love visiting different places, meeting people, knowing about their culture and language, and listening to all types of music.

I love academic writing so much, and I am most comfortable with APA and MLA citation styles.  However, I can also guide the students with other citation styles by employing online and printed resources available on campus. I am looking forward to welcoming you at the CAS and working with you!
