2011-2012 Guest Artists
The Department of Theatre & Dance, through the generosity of David and Lowell Andreas in honor of their wife and mother, hosted the following Artists in Residence during 2011-12.
• Zorongo Flemenco Dance Theater (above)
Susana di Palma founded Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre in 1982. One of the few American Spanish dance companies that present both traditional flamenco programs as well as original theater flamenco works, Zorongo works with international artists, dancers and musicians — renowned for bringing the power, passion and virtuosity of the art of flamenco to American audiences. Zorongo Flemenco Dance Theater will perform at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2012, in the Ostrander Auditorium of the Centennial Student Union.
• Flying Foot Forum (above)
The Flying Foot Forum was founded in 1991 by Joe Chvala. Over the years, the Forum has created numerous original percussive works that have toured both nationally and internationally from New York City to Paris and from the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival to Russia. The exciting mission of the Flying Foot Forum is to re-imagine the potential of all forms of percussive dance and percussion and to explore their full range of dramatic and musical possibilities. The Flying Foot Forum will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, in the Ted Paul Theatre.
