The Department of Theatre and Dance offers graduate programs leading to the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) and Master of Arts (MA). Both of these programs focus on professional preparation in acting, directing and design or technical production. Students are closely assisted and programs are individualized.

Production programs in the Department of Theatre & Dance have more than 2,000 season ticket holders and perform to more than 35,000 audience members each year. In addition, the program has a distinguished history in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival and Irene Ryan competitions. A play written and produced by a Minnesota State University, Mankato student was performed at the Kennedy Center as part of the national festival. Our national reputation attracts graduate students from across the nation. In addition, professional guest artists are in residency each year.
