MSU alum, owner of Big Boned BBQ, and competitive BBQ Champion, Pat Nelson, will return to Mankato for the city’s annual Ribfest from August 4-7. On Thursday, August 4, he’ll be on campus to talk BBQ, provide limited samples, and distribute the always-popular Maverick Meal Deals. Meals are $7 and must be pre-ordered by August 2. Meals include your choice of a BBQ beef brisket sandwich or pulled pork sandwich, a side of coleslaw, and a slice of cornbread. Additionally, bottles of Nelson’s award-winning BBQ sauce and rub may be ordered for $6 each. Meal distribution will be from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 4. Location will be the CSU Mall, with Mav Ave being the rainsite. Cash and credit card payments will be accepted on site. Any meals not picked up by 12:30 will be distributed to waiting guests.
