New Student Rally, Blakeslee Stadium
The official kick-off to your life as a Maverick, this is THE event to be at on Friday. It will feature a high-energy performance by the Maverick Machine and a welcome from the University President, student leaders, and more. To conclude the rally, attendees will process as a group and formally “enter” campus as you march through the Alumni Arch near the Bell Tower. The event will be followed by the Backyard Bash.

Alumni Arch 
Passing through the Alumni Arch is a tradition marking your forever status as a Maverick. Join the Maverick Machine marching band as it leads the procession from the New Student Rally to the Arch. Transferred from the historic Old Main Annex from the former lower campus, the Arch is a symbol of our University’s history and a pathway for entering campus as a new student and leaving campus as an alum.

Grab your swimsuit and towel and have some fun cooling off in the pool. 

Library Tour, Memorial Library 
Take a brief (25-minute) tour of Memorial Library to learn about our computer labs, study areas, and items you can check out!  It starts at the checkout desk at the main entrance.  

Pick-A-Duck, Memorial Library 
Play the Library’s pick-a-duck game at the Library’s main entrance during the Backyard Bash.

Join us for a cookout, live music featuring Of the Orchard, yard games, and more! Mingle with returning and new students alike, and university staff. This is the on-campus meal plan lunch option for Friday. Sponsored by Fraternity and Sorority Life.

FREE!  Maverick Bullpen, Lower Level of the CSU 
Enjoy bowling, billiards, video games and much more in the Maverick Bullpen! Bowling lanes and billiards tables will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. 

1:00 to 3:00  p.m.
Choose-a-Palooza, campus-wide, concludes in CSU Hearth Lounge 
You choose where to visit, and you choose which prizes you want to win! Earn prize drawing tickets by visiting different campus offices. Bring your signed tickets to the prize station in the CSU Hearth Lounge (lower level in front of the fireplace) by 3:00 p.m. for the prize drawing. You will find goodies, more prizes and giveaways at each stop. Pick up your Choose-a-Palooza map at the front desk of your on-campus residence community or at the Campus Hub. Don't miss your chance at great prizes! Sponsored by Residential Life. 

3:30 p.m.
Prize Flight, Hearth Lounge overlook immediately following Choose-a-Palooza
The first 350 NEW students to stop by the Centennial Student Union Office in CSU 220 during Choose-a-Palooza receive a balsa wood airplane. Assemble your plane and bring it to the Choose-a-Palooza giveaway program at 3:00 p.m. in the CSU Hearth Lounge. Immediately following Choose-a-Palooza, join a group launching their planes from the Hearth Lounge overlook toward a small Maverick “bullseye” on the floor below. The closest planes to the target win. Sponsored by the Centennial Student Union and its partners. YOU MUST BE A NEW STUDENT and YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN. Winners will be announced after distances are measured. Bring your MavCARD to claim your prize.

LGBT Ice Cream Spectacular! LGBT Center (CSU 194)  
Come in for a cool treat and a meet and greet! Grab an ice cream cone and meet the LGBT Center staff. Learn about our programs and how you can be involved on campus! Everyone is welcome! Sponsored by the LGBT Center.

Have you wondered what fraternities and sororities are really like? They are a lot different from what you see in movies and on tv. Join us for a student-led session that will fill you in on the basics of Fraternity & Sorority Life at Minnesota State Mankato. These organizations have been a vibrant part of campus life for more than 60 years. This is a no-pressure, no-obligation opportunity to learn more and possibly decide if joining one of our fraternities or sororities may be for you.

Led by the LGBT Center, Violence Awareness and Response Program, and the Women’s Center

Indoor Climbing Wall, SE corner of Myers Field House
Join us at our indoor climbing facility and spend the evening reaching new heights!  All you need is your MavCARD and we will provide all of the equipment for you to climb!  Staff will be there to provide instruction for climbers new to the sport. Please wear comfortable clothing.  

8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Swing Dance, CSU Flex Programming Space (FPS) in CSU Lower Level
Grab your dancing shoes and drop your inhibitions as you learn some new moves. Feel free to come with a partner or on your own. Lessons will be provided!  Sponsored by the Swing Dance Club. 

9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Star Gazing, Standeford Observatory 
Let your imagination soar as you ponder the mysteries of the universe. Check out our state-of-the-art telescopes and get a close-up look at our galaxy and beyond. Meet at the flag in front of the Centennial Student Union on the south side to be shuttled to the observatory.  A shuttle will run continuously until 10:00 p.m. Sponsored by the Astronomy Department and Campus Recreation.
