Help for Survivors

Page address:

If you or someone you know is being sexually harassed, the following are actions to consider:

  • Talk to a friend or loved one who can help you sort out your feelings.

  • Save all evidence of sexual harassment and keep a journal of incidents with what happened when and how you felt. Keep all evidence and the journal in a safe place. Consider making a copy of the journal and leaving it with a trusted friend.

  • If you feel safe and comfortable enough to do so, firmly and directly confront the harasser and tell them to stop their degrading and offensive behavior. Without objection from you or others, the harasser may continue or intensify the harassment.

  • Writing a letter clearly and firmly explaining the harasser's behavior and how it makes you feel and sending it to them is another option and may be effective in stopping the behavior.

  • Consider reporting incidents of sexual harassment to the Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX
