Removal of Seats
Modification of 7 passenger mini-vans.
- Requests for the temporary removal of seat(s) shall be made in advance to ensure that MSU garage mechanics schedule time to properly remove the seat according to manufacturer's guidelines. The Facilities Services Office reservations desk must receive the request on a business day at least 24 hours prior to the departure time allowing reservation staff and the garage mechanics to coordinate the change out of the bench seat(s). Seats that are bolted down by the manufacturer are not to be removed.
- Only MSU garage mechanics shall remove and re-install seats in MSU passenger fleet vehicles. The safety of subsequent users of the vehicle requires that the seat be properly installed and secured.
- Cargo carrying capacity of passenger fleet vehicles is limited. Because the removal of seat(s) will allow for more luggage and cargo, good safety practices require that materials be secured in such a way as to not compromise the operation of the vehicle or create a hazard from flying cargo should an accident occur.
- A handling fee of $10 shall be assessed to those requesting the removal of a bench seat. The fee shall cover costs associated with removal and installation of seat(s).
