About Ben

I am a native of New Mexico who has put down 25 years’ worth of roots in the Mankato community. I married a fellow alumnus of Minnesota State Mankato, raised five children and found my way back to the University excited to serve the College of Science Engineering and Technology (CSET). After receiving my degree in Mathematics in 2000, I have been in many different positions. I spent 15 wonderful years as a Mathematics faculty at South Central College (across the river). I was able to impact thousands of students from the classroom as a faculty member. However, now I will be able to make a lasting impact on thousands more as I facilitate and foster a lasting relationship between donors, alumni, faculty, industry partners and students.

My Maverick connection runs deep (especially for being from out of state). My wife Allison (2000 College of Arts and Humanities) and I (2000 CSET) are alums. My son is a current CSET student. My brother-in-law is a CSET (1996) alum married to a College of Education (1995) alum. My niece is an alum from the College of Arts and Humanities (2017) and her brother is a current student. Even my middle school Home Economics teacher and life-long family friend is a 1972 alum of Allied Health and Nursing. I am looking forward to many more connections throughout the years to come.

For Fun

The best piece of advice I've ever been given is be yourself, always.

The most important thing I learned in college is that I'm not done learning.

When I was 5, I was pretty sure I'd be a race car driver when I grew up.
