Benefits of Educational Talent Search

ETS serves students in grades 6-12 in our target schools and support the school counselor's efforts on college and career planning and meeting the state career and college readiness mandates. ETS provides additional opportunities for individualized assistance and attention with the college search and college admission process. Services vary in content and intensity based on age-appropriate career and college readiness benchmarks.

Once you are accepted into the program, there are no financial costs to participating in the program; services are provided through our federal and state funding. The main costs for the student are the effort and commitment to participate and engage in the program. You not only have FREE access to all of ETS services but, you also get financial assistance on college applications, ACT testing and study materials, free ETS events, some free Minnesota State University, Mankato athletic events.

WHY JOIN?

  • Many of our target school have services starting in junior high to start with age-appropriate activities such as identifying individual skill sets and abilities, academic growth, and career and college exploration.
  • ETS provides guidance on helping discover students’ unique skills and talents and exposure to the many career possibilities and pathways within the world of work.
  • Develop the academic and social skills necessary to be successful in high school and enter a post-secondary education program.
  • ETS advisors are able to provide age-appropriate individualized services focusing on successful completion and graduation from high school, application process and ultimately enrollment to a post-secondary institution.
  • Financial aid information and support with FAFSA completion whether that be through a workshop or connections. We want to help you maximize your aid with scholarships and FAFSA completion.
  • ETS hosts events that provide additional opportunities for college and career exposure and awareness helping students' select and find their college fit.

  • Colleges throughout the United States recognize and support TRIO programs and the commitment a student has to their future by investing their time in a pre-college program such as Educational Talent Search.
    • Admission fee waivers and/or scholarship incentives may be available simply because you identify yourself as an ETS/TRIO student.
  • ETS gives you the opportunity to add to your involvement resume by being a part of the TRIO program while learning new career and college readiness skills.
  • Connections to college-level TRIO programs like Student Support Services or other beneficial services/programs.
  • Life-long connections with fellow TRIO students and career networking through the TRIO alumni association.
