Fitness Assessment

Fees include two fitness assessments - one before the start of your fitness program and one after you have completed a fitness program (approximately 12 weeks after the first assessment).  You will receive a summary of your results via email. 

Fitness assessments are available for current students, faculty, staff, spouses, alums and donors. 

Anyone interested in purchasing individual personal training or small group personal training packages must complete a fitness assessment.

You do NOT need to have an Otto Rec Center membership to purchase a fitness assessment.

Benefits of a Fitness Assessment:

  • Providing you with baseline information needed to start a fitness program.
  • Utilizing the information later to chart your progress during your fitness program.
  • Increasing the likelihood of continuation of a fitness program.

Components of a Fitness Assessment:

  • Body composition - administered by bioelectrical impedance
  • Cardio respiratory fitness - administered with treadmill walking, running, or bicycle tests
  • Muscular strength assessment - administered with a push-up, crunch, and/or bench press test
  • Flexibility assessment - administered with a sit and reach test

How do I set up a Fitness Assessment Appointment?

    • The fitness assessment must be paid for before scheduling an appointment.
  • Pay online and you will contacted by staff to set up an appointment via email.
    • $20 for students
    • $30 for faculty, staff, alums, donors and spouses of afore mentioned and spouses of students

Required Forms for a Fitness Assessment:

  • Medical History Questionnaire
    • Complete form and drop off at HC 1410 or email copy to before fitness assessment appointment. 
      • Depending on the information you provide on your form, clearance from a medical provider may be required before completing a fitness assessment and/or meeting with a personal trainer.


Equipment Orientation:

An optional, one time 30-60 minute basic orientation with a trainer is available to show individuals how to operate cardio equipment and weight machines.  Cost: Free

You do not need to complete a fitness assessment to set up an appointment for equipment orientation.  This is a free service we offer all current Otto Rec Center members.
