Hi Sandra,

Yes indeed I read your paper "One Mom Can Make a Difference" and was greatly impressed with your dedication to the well being of your son. You are truly an amazing woman!

I'm glad my paper on the iceberg was helpful to you. Too often parents - and even well meaning SLPs - focus only on the outward evidence of stuttering without realizing what lies beneath the audible problem. But I believe that this is changing, however slowly. While my paper was written primarily to the SLP community, it really is applicable to anyone involved with stuttering. We have a long way to go to educate people on stuttering, but each day, and each paper, and each new support group, will help make progress towards that goal - and a better life for our children.

In your bio for your "One Mom..." paper you state: "She is currently working on starting a support group for parents in her city." I wish you luck in doing this. The world is better off for having people like you!

Please let me know if I can ever help you in any way.

See you in Baltimore! <smile>

Russ
