I am astounded by the results of the study showing a large percent of people who stutter are discriminated against at work. Employers should not be able to discriminate against employees because of their communication abilities. They wouldn’t dare discriminate against someone that was physically disabled. Why do they think it’s right to discriminate against people who stutter? I think it would be interesting to survey employers on their hiring qualifications and how they feel about people who stutter working for them. I also think educating employers on people who stutter and what they can do to help would be beneficial.
