Hi Renee: You ask why employers think it is alright to discriminate against people who stutter, while it is not 'all right' to discriminate against people with a physical disability. From my own perspective, it has always seemed like it is OK to make fun of people/characters who stutter. For example, Porky Pig is a severe stutterer, yet it is OK to portray him as a comic character. I have yet to see a cartoon that has a character in a wheelchair where it is OK to make fun of the fact they cannot walk. I cannot explain why one is OK and the other is not. Prof. Marshall Rice
