McElroy Residence Community

Page address: http://www.mnsu.edu/reslife/halls/mcelroy.html
Located on the north side of campus, McElroy is the home to nearly 800 residents in E, F, G, and H Halls for 2012-2013. We offer both renovated and basic room types in McElroy in addition to our only co-ed traditional residence hall, McElroy G Hall. This community is adjacent to Carkoski Commons, providing indoor access to the Carkoski Dining Hall.

McElroy G Hall Co-Ed Floors

Any interested student may request to live on one of the co-ed floors in McElroy Residence Community. Just like the other floor communities on campus, programs and activities on the co-ed floors reflect the interests of floor members except that both men and women are a part of these communities. Men and women are assigned to alternating rooms, and there are separate bathrooms on the floor for men and women.

Construction on the new residence hall has begun! This project will house 300 students and provide amenities that serve all residence hall students. When the new building opens in 2012, indoor walkways for all Crawford and McElroy residents will extend closer to academic buildings. [JPG] See current and improved walkways (401 KiB). When open, the project will significantly improve the residence hall facilities. During construction, residents in McElroy I Hall will see the following changes:

No Indoor Hallway to Lobby, Dining Hall
During the 2011-2012 academic year, I Hall residents will have outdoor-only access to other halls, the McElroy Front Desk, and the Carkoski Dining Hall. I Hall will not have an indoor hallway connecting to these areas until construction is complete. Please see the I Hall Walkways map to view the walkways I Hall residents will use to get to the Front Desk and Dining Hall. These walkways are highlighted in yellow, and public walkways around the construction site are highlighted in green.

I Hall Entries and Exits
Students will primarily enter and exit I Hall from the east entry door (facing Performing Arts). An alternate exit near the west end of the first floor is also available. The west door is an exit only - not an entrance. It leads to a paved, temporary walkway on the south side of I Hall.

Construction Noise
Construction will continue through the 2011-2012 academic year, beginning as early as 8:00 a.m., Monday through Friday.  The contractor will provide a brief periodic newsletter on the planned construction work for the coming weeks and what residents can expect.  Construction newsletters will be posted here.

NEW: Dust Discount

Students living in I Hall for 2011-2012 will pay the BASIC ROOM RATE for their room rather than the renovated room rate.

Please visit our construction news website for additional construction and map updates as they become available.
