Thanksgiving Break

Hall Closing

The halls will close for Thanksgiving Break at 9 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2018  and reopen at Noon (12 p.m.), Sunday, November 25, 2018.


Thanksgiving Break Housing Registration

Students may stay in their own rooms during the time the residence communities are closed.  For security reasons, students who want to stay on campus beyond 9 a.m., Wednesday, November 21 must register at their Residence Community Front Desk/Stadium Heights Office by Friday, November 16 (registration begins November 5)Anyone found in the residence communities over break who did not register will be charged an administrative fee of $50 and may be subject to disciplinary proceedings. During the break period all residence community and University policies remain in effect.

There is no charge to stay on campus during Thanksgiving Break.


Food Service

The evening meal is the last meal served on Tuesday, November 20 (dinner is 4-6 p.m.). On Wednesday, November 21, Jazzman's (CSU) will be open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Union Grill (CSU) will be open 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The first meal served after break is the evening meal on Sunday, November 25 (food service begins at 4 p.m.). 


Leaving Your Car On Campus Over Thanksgiving Break

Only residents who are registered to stay over Thanksgiving Break may keep their cars on campus.  If you are going home over break, you must take your car with you or find other parking arrangements.  Unregistered cars may be subject to towing. Regular parking rules will be enforced through Wednesday, November 21.  Thursday and Friday will be treated as Saturday parking.

Stadium Heights students may park in front of their buildings.  Stadium Heights students who are leaving for the break but not taking their cars, should move them to the parking lot in front of Building 751.


Mail and Front Desk Service

Crawford, McElroy, Preska and Julia Sears

Front Desks will be open:

  • Wednesday, November 21: 8-9 a.m., 4:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Friday, November 23: 4:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 24: 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Mail will be delivered on Monday and Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving.  Mail is not delivered on Wednesday, Thursday (Thanksgiving Day), Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Mail delivery resumes on Monday, November 26.

Stadium Heights

The Stadium Heights Office will be open:

  • Wednesday, November 21: 8-10 a.m.
  • Friday, November 23: 4:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 24: 4:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 25: 12 p.m. (Noon) to 7 p.m.

Mail delivery will follow the U.S. Postal Service schedule.


Before You Leave for Thanksgiving Break

  • CLOSE and LOCK your windows.
  • Remove all trash from your room.
  • Return all To-Go Meal containers to the University Dining Center.
  • Turn off the alarm on your clock.
  • Close your blinds if you live on the first floor.
  • Turn off and un-plug your computer and electronics.
  • Turn off the lights.
  • CLOSE your door and make sure the lock on the door is SECURE.

Residential Life Staff Members will be checking your room/apartment on Wednesday morning to help secure the building.  If policy violations are observed while staff are securing the building, they will document the violation and follow-up will take place when the student returns to campus.
