Hello, Making parents and teachers aware of the effects of SHAME of stuttering are most important. Everybody needs to give the same message that it's "OK to Have Bumps in Your Speech" and to encourage the Downs Children to communicate the BEST that they can in Life Situations. Treating the regular teenage person who stutters involves much more cognition. Again, I focus on reducing SHAME of Stuttering and Fears which precipitate avoidance behaviors and then I gradually work on modifying stuttering. My goal is effective communication with some stuttering being present. Thank you. Judith
