This is a spectacular way for kids to have fun with speech therapy and not feel as though they are being punished for the rate in which they speak. By relating the information to a speeding car and by discussing the consequences of speeding (related to speaking too fast), I would imagine that this idea gives a child a concrete example in relation to their speech. By talking too fast, or “speeding”, the child would be able to slow down their “car” and go the “speed limit”, thus speaking at a comfortable speed. I can imagine that the children have fun pretending to be police officers and listen for the speed of their teacher’s speech! Excellent analogy for a child!
