Voices from the Valley needs and values your participation.  There are several ways you can get involved...

Participate in a Voices from the Valley Community Recording Session

Every two or three months, Voices from the Valley hosts a Community Recording Session.  The idea here is simple--you  bring a friend or loved one to the Minnesota State campus, and we help you record a conversation/interview with the person you bring.  You'll leave with a cd copy of your conversation--a keepsake that will last for generations.  Everybody is welcome--you can record a conversation with your grandmother or your favorite high school teacher.   Click here for more information--including how to prepare for a recording session.

Be Interviewed by the Blue Earth County Historical Society's Young Historians

Under the guidance of BECHS Director Jessica Potter and local historian Emmett Smith, young historians are conducting oral histories of long-time Blue Earth County residents.  These interviews will be digitally recorded and housed at the Blue Earth County Historical Society and on this website.  Participating in this project offers a great chance to contribute our local history while also helping area youth develop their interviewing skills.  For more information, contact Jessica Potter at 507-345-5566.

Contact us about a possible story or interview...

Know somebody in the Minnesota River Valley region with a unique story to tell?  Send us a note and we'll see if we can figure out a way to get that story on tape.  We might send somebody out to do an interview or we might invite you to one of our Community Recording Sessions on the campus of Minnesota State University.
