As part of her Master’s thesis in Speech Communication, Lynn Kuechle explored the meaning of motherhood in contemporary American culture. Along with reflecting on her own experiences as a mother, Lynn interviewed and captured the stories of five other mothers – all of whom were in different stages of mothering.
From these stories she created a performance piece called Extraordinary Ordinary: Motherhood in the Face of Unrealistic Stereotypes and Outdated ideology. The version of the performance presented here features Lynn, Rachel Droogsma, Angela Brutlag, and Holly Breitkreutz bringing to life the joys and challenges of being a mom in 2007... and beyond.
