Achieving Excellence Through Customer Service - John Tschohl
On the night of Thursday, March 13th, a room full of local folks got a good taste of what a engaging, nationally recognized customer service guru thinks. And the Q & A that followed was stimulating - John Tschohl held no punches. The event was jointly sponsored by the Mankato Area Council for Quality and the American Society for Quality. This special presentation was held at South Central College in the Heritage Hall. The topic was "Achieving Excellence Through Customer Service".
Beth Colway - I&S Group
Beth Colway briefed Quality Council members on the I&S Group, its engineering and architectural services, and the importance of community involvement for any company or organization.
I&S Group, with 30 years of experience in the Greater Mankato Area, has grown to 80 employees and prides itself in providing a wide range of architectural and engineering services including civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, etc. Colway stated that I&S Group has a "full house" of design professionals and sees the merit of having its interior designers working right along with the architects to ensure the best in design options for their clients.
I&S Group has experience with "Green" designing. Although "green designs" are relatively new for the industry, this design approach has positive environmental impacts from the construction materials utilized to the environmentally sensitive disposition of discarded materials.
During I&S Group's 30th anniversary year, it's employees contributed over a hundred hours in Habitat for Humanity's' 30th house in the Greater Mankato Area.

Quality Briefing was at the Holiday Inn, on Tuesday, January 8th. January's Quality Movement Focus was on: Innovative Office Solutions, the exclusive office supply contract vendor which handles all office supplies ordered by the many academic and administrative offices at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Gary Feichtinger made the presentation from the perspective of Innovative Office Solutions as the service provider and demonstrated to us how keeping Minnesota State's departments happy involves techniques we can all learn from.
Ninth Annual "Celebration of Quality Initiatives" Banquet held October 23, 1997
Usually on the second Thursday of each month the Education Committee of MACQ hosts a 75 minute noon luncheon were a variety of quality issues are addressed. Often MACQ member companies and organizations serve as the site for the luncheon and brief those in attendance about quality initiatives within their particular operation. All are welcome!
