For students with no previous German language instruction. Students with previous language training must take the German placement test. Fast-paced and intensive communicative language course that introduces German language and culture. It focuses on comprehension of oral and written German, vocabulary acquisition, and developing elementary proficiency in speaking, writing, and reading.

GER102 Elementary German II

Continuation of GER 101. Fast-paced and intensive communicative language course that introduces German language and culture. It continues to develop and expand comprehension of oral and written German, further expansion of vocabulary and developing elementary proficiency in speaking, writing, and reading.

GER202 Intermediate German I

Continuation of GER 102. Introduction to topics in German studies such as literature, history, art, politics in combination with review of grammar structures, expansion of vocabulary and furthering linguistic skills.

Individual Study

Individual study project conducted by student independently and at the appropriate level. This form of instruction is rarely granted due to one faculty program. Permission for registration required.

GER443 Topics in German Studies: Multicultural Voices in Contemporary Germany

Introduction to multicultural voices in postwar Germany. Course deals with immigration, multilingualism, citizenship and significant literary, cultural, and political movements.

GER490 Senior Capstone

An individual project by German majors or minors that demonstrates the ability to focus on a specific topic or question in-depth in the field of German culture and literature studies. Not a requirement for major or minor. Approval and permission for registration required.
