18th Annual Earth Conference

Saturday, November 4, 2023
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Centennial Student Union

The Living Earth Center, School Sisters of Notre Dame, and the Minnesota State University, Mankato Environmental Committee will host the 18th Annual Earth Conference at the Centennial Student Union 253 on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, 9AM - 3:30 PM.

The full Minnesota State Mankato community of faculty, staff, and emeriti are invited to attend for discussion and community building. The theme this year is “Bridging the Divide: Our Collective Role in Reconnecting People, Place, and Ecological Relationships.”

Bridging the divide is a formidable task given the contentious nature of our world today. There is hope and possibility when we look at progress that has already been made. Forging connections across divides is not only possible, it is necessary if we are to create a world where we all can thrive.

Keynote Speaker

The keynote speaker will be Carolina Ortiz, from Comunidades Organizando el Poder y la Acción Latina (COPAL), a grassroots organization that seeks to impact the quality of life for Latinos in MN through working on public policy, leadership, and community.

Four additional speakers will be featured throughout the day focusing on following topics:

  • Ecological Resources — Paul Ebbing, founder of the Blue Earth Project;
  • Agricultural Practices — Reginaldo Haslett-Marroquin, Founder of Tree-Range Farms;
  • Social Connections — Mohammed Alsadig, Executive Director of Greater Mankato Diversity Council;
  • Political Disconnect — Kathryn Lozada, Southern Minnesota Organizer with non-partisan, interfaith organization ISAIAH.
