MANKATO – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Department of Theatre & Dance continues the 2022-2023 Theatre Season with “At Home at the Zoo” in the Andreas Theatre at the Early Center for the Performing Arts.

The play begins with “Homelife,” Edward Albee’s 2004 play, and offers a revealing look at Peter and Ann’s rocky marriage, their brutal attempts to communicate, and the loneliness within their shared life. The tension escalates in the next act, “The Zoo Story,” Albee’s 1959 play. A man named Jerry approaches Peter in Central Park and begins to tell tale after tale, probe deep into Peter’s life, and attempts to take the park bench for himself.

This production is directed by first year MFA directing candidate Casey Ring, who is making his directorial debut at Minnesota State Mankato. He says that this play is, at its core, about discovering what’s important.

“At Home at the Zoo” runs March 22-25, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. in the Andreas Theatre at the Earley Center for Performing Arts, Minnesota State University, Mankato. Tickets are $10 regular, $9 for seniors ages 65 and older and children under 16; and $5 for Minnesota State Mankato students.

The box office is open 4-6 p.m. weekdays in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center. Call 507-389-6661 for more ticket information.

“Something Rotten!” is next up in the Department of Theatre and Dance, April 6-16 in the Ted Paul Theatre.
