MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Music & Entertainment Industries will feature Bunny Just piano festival events Friday, Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb. 19 in Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Avenue.

The 26th annual festival features classical pianist Douglas Ashcraft in concert at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19 in Halling Recital Hall. Other public events include a Friday afternoon master class session with area college pianists and a Saturday afternoon piano competition and master session with regional junior and senior high school pianist.

Pianist Douglas Ashcraft has been featured in recitals and concerts throughout the United States and Europe. Ashcraft is a piano faculy member for Idyllwild Arts in Idyllwild, California. His formal training began as a student of Aldo Mancinelli. He holds both master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Southern California, where he worked with pianist John Perry.

Ashcraft participated in classes at the Aspen Music Festival and the Holland Music Sessions in Alkmaar, Netherlands. Here he was a student of the pianists John O’Conor, Marie Francoise Bucquet and Gyorgy Sandor. Ashcraft’s involvement with the Holland Music Music Sessions allowed him to perform in a recital at Amsterdam’s famous concert hall, Concertgebouw.

Festival activities are made possible by the Bunny Just Piano Festival Endowment and the Minnesota State Mankato Performance Series.

General admission for the concert is $9. Concert admission for K-12 students and children is $7. Minnesota State Mankato students will be admitted free with a valid MavCARD.
