Mankato, Minn. – Tab Benoit and special guest JD SIMO will bring their tour to Mankato on Monday, Feb. 27 at Hooligans, 1400 East Madison Avenue (Madison East Center). The show is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. with JD SIMO. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.

The concert is sponsored by the Minnesota State University, Mankato Performance Series under the direction of music faculty member Dale Haefner.

Known for his Delta swamp blues, Tab Benoit is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from southern Louisiana. He has collaborated with artists such as Willie Nelson, Billie Joe Shaver, Maria Muldaur, and Kenny Neal, to name a few. His touring career began after his release “Nice and Warm” became an AAA Radio hit. His successful guitar playing has created comparisons to artists such as Albert King, Albert Collins and Jimi Hendrix.

Benoit is a Grammy-nominated artist. His lively career has so far consisted of five Blues Music Awards, two BB King Entertainer of the Year Awards and a spot in the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. Due to his passion to save the native Louisiana wetlands, Benoit has also created an organization called Voice of the Wetlands, which is working to help preserve the coastal waters of Louisiana. This organization made him the recipient of the Governor’s Award for Conservationist of the Year from the Louisiana Wildlife Federation.

JD SIMO is a songwriter, guitarist, and producer who has worked with individuals such as Jack White, Tommy Emmanuel and Grateful Dead’s Phil Lesh, to name a few. He also worked on the film score and soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” biopic, which hit theatres in June of 2022. His musical talent has reached from the old school blues of Earl Hooker to the raw fuzzy rock of Nirvana.
