MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato's Department of Performing Arts will feature performer Pieta Brown in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1 in Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Avenue.

Brown will be joined on stage with musicians Liz Draper (Low, Okee Dokee Brothers, Soul Asylum, Charlie Parr) and Erik Koskinen (Lucinda Williams, Al Kooper, The Waifs, Trampled by Turtles, Dead Man Winter, Charlie Parr).

This activity is sponsored in part by the Nadine B. Andreas Endowment and the Minnesota State Mankato Performance Series.

Brown has supported and shared the stage with artists such as Brandi Carlisle, JJ Cale, Ani Difranco and Mavis Staples, among others. Brown’s music has roots in traditional and rural folk music with a plethora of influences from her bohemian upbringing.

Her music has appeared in various TV Shows such as The CW’s “Jane the Virgin” and indie films including Wim Wender’s “Everything Will Be Fine.” Her critically acclaimed album, “Paradise Outlaw,” has been praised by many, including Bon Iver who called it, their “favorite recording made at our studio.”

General admission for the concert is $10. Minnesota State Mankato students will be admitted free with a valid MavCARD.
