Amy Roisum Foley is the director of the concert wind ensemble. The group is an auditioned ensemble comprised of 45-50 undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a diverse range of majors. The ensemble is designed for the professionally minded performer and music educator and requires a high level of discipline from its members.

This concert will feature pieces from a diverse set of composers to honor both leap day and Black History Month.

Describing the concert, Roisum Foley said: “…the wind ensemble strives to share pertinent messages about the world around us through diverse wind band movement.”

Included in the wind ensemble concert is a piece titled “A Movement for Rosa,” that both honors Rosa Parks and tells the story of Claudette Colvin. The wind ensemble will also be playing two pieces from Minnesota composer, Shelley Hanson.

In anticipation for the upcoming wind ensemble concert, Bailey Kowarsch, a member of the ensemble, stated: “Overall, I am excited to share this concert with the community because there are a lot of great musicians that make it really cool…it should be a great concert and I’m glad to be a part of it!”
