Jan. 21: Martin Luther King Jr. Day Campus Activities Include Service Projects, Community Celebration

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato's Office of Community Engagement will be conducting a variety of service projects from 1-4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21 as part of Martin Luther King Jr. Day activies on campus.

The projects will benefit area services agencies and be held on the Centennial Student Union’s main level. (Call 507-389-6076 for more information.)

Later Monday, Jan. 21, the University’s Office of Institutional Diversity will host a Martin Luther King Jr. Day community celebration from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom. The keynote speaker is the Rev. Dr. Luke Powery, dean of Duke University Chapel and a national leader in the theological art of preaching, particularly the study of spirituals as expressions of displaced Africans. Ticket information is available here. Parking is free in the University pay lot in front of Centennial Student Union.
