MANKATO – Paul J. Hustoles, faculty chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance at Minnesota State University, Mankato, directs the University's first play of the new year, and this is a fun one! “Peter and the Starcatcher” is a family friendly show written by Rick Elice, with music by Wayne Barker. “Peter and the Starcatcher” opens on Jan. 31 in the Andreas Theatre in the Early Center for the Performing Arts.

“Peter and the Starcatcher” tells the story of a young orphan and his mates when they are shipped off from Victorian England to a distance island rules by the evil King Zarboff. They know nothing of the mysterious trunk in the captain’s cabin, which contains a precious, otherworldly cargo. At sea, the boys are discovered by a precocious young girl name Molly, a Starcatcher-in-training.

Peter and the Starcatcher runs 7:30 p.m. Jan. 31-Feb. 2 and Feb. 6-9, and 2 p.m. Feb. 3 and Feb. 9-10 in the Andreas Theatre, Earley Center for Performing Arts, Minnesota State Mankato.

Tickets are $16 regular; $14 for seniors ages 65 and older, children under 16 and groups of 15 or more; and $11 for Minnesota State Mankato students.
