MANKATO – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Department of Theatre & Dance will open “Sister Act” on Tues., July 9 in the Ted Paul Theatre at the Early Center for Performing Arts.

The Theatre and Dance Department is excited to welcome guest artists Ondreya Seahorn from Western Illinois University in the role of Deloris, Patti McGuire, a Minnesota State Mankato alumna from Central Florida in the role of Mother Superior, and Robert Lee Escamilla from South Dakota State University in the role of Curtis Jackson. Rounding out the cast of 23 is a fantastic group of current students, alumni and friends of Minnesota State Mankato.

This feel-good musical comedy smash based on the hit 1992 film will have audiences jumping to their feet! Featuring music by Tony and eight-time Oscar winner, Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors), this uplifting musical tells the tale of an aspiring disco singer who finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time, and ends up in protective custody in a convent, where she forms an unruly alliance with the Sisters. A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, this musical will give you a reason to rejoice!

“Sister Act” runs July 9-14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Ted Paul Theatre at the Earley Center for Performing Arts at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Tickets are $22 regular and $19 for seniors ages 65 and older, children under 16 and groups of 15 or more.
